What are you working on? I am doing a happy dance.

I just posted to the Stitcher's Treasures Facebook page two new pieces that I just finished.  Isn't that a novel idea, I finished something.  One is the Merry Cox project that I am going to her class this Saturday at the Orange Coast Sampler Guild for the finishing part.  Yes,  you heard me correctly, I will be attempting to do my own finishing on this piece.  I pray that I don't mess it up.  As most of you know I am not a finisher, I would rather be stitching. 

The other piece that I finished was a Lizzie Kate that came in on the last automatic.  That pictures is also posted on the Facebook page and I will post the both of them here also.

 

 

Our class that we had on the Victorian Note Pocket was lots of fun.  I will be scheduling other pieces with Anne as the teacher.  Her designs are very interesting and she is a wonderful teacher.

Our next All Day Stitch is on August 13th.  I hope that you can make it.  It is always fun to just relax with your friends. 

We are having and authentic English Tea Party on August 21st from 1pm to 4pm hosted by Tea with Dee.  Dee will be providing china tea cups and all the Foo-Foo-La-La's.  There will be tea, finger sandwiches, sweets, and hats and boas to try on and have fun with.  We will be supplementing a portion of your cost, so it will only cost you $15.00.  This is the unofficial kick off for the Emma and Eliza series from Just Nan.  You don't have to be participating in the series to attend.

Nancy's everything class will be on August 27th from 10 am to 4 pm.  Nancy will not be with us for the month of September as she and her husband are going on a well deserved vacation.

Upcoming Events

Just a quick note to let you know what is going to be happening in the next two months.

July 9th, yes this Saturday, is our All Day Stitch.  We will be meeting for breakfast at the Golden Egg Omelet House at 8:30 am.  Then on to the shop to stitch in the air conditioning. 

Gifts of Splendor will be teaching the Victorian Note Pocket on July 16th.  It is a beautiful ribbon embroidery heart.  I have included a picture for you. We have two color ways in the shop for you to see.  The cost of the complete kit is $85.00 and the teaching fee is $50.00.  The hours for the class is 10 am to 4 pm.

 

August 13th is an All Day Stitch with the ditto of what is above.

August 27th is Nancy's Everything Class.  If you are working on any of Nancy's pieces that she has been teaching or if you just want some help with decorative stitches or thread choices for any canvas that you are working on this is the class for you.  Nancy has the Midas touch and knowledge to find just the right thing for the canvas.  The cost for the class $25.00

The Cat has Returned

I hope that you all enjoyed the mice playing while I was gone.  I can see I have lots of orders to catch up on. 

Jerry and I had a really nice time.  We put over 2200 miles on the rental car in two weeks.  Needless to say we didn't let any grass grow under our feet. 

We started out in Pennsylvania, on to NY and Canada and back to NY to fly home.  I won't bore you with all the details, but just that it was a wonderful trip and had a great time with my east coast family and friends.

The new Lizzie Kate pieces are here and will be on the web site by Tuesday. 

I am going to be looking at a date for our Stitcher's Survival Camp for  2012 and the class schedule for the summer.  So stay tuned. 

Got to run for now as I am still trying to get unpacked and laundry done.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all of you.  I hope that you all have a wonderful and restful weekend.   Jerry and I will be getting ready to leave on vacation June 2nd and will be gone until June 16th.  I will be taking my laptop so if you need to you can email me.  We are going to go to Pennsylvania and then on to Niagara Falls to my newphew's wedding and a family reunion.  I am very excited.

Dorothy and Heidi will be here taking care of things.  I think that they are planning some special things so make sure you watch the web site and for your newsletter. 

We have some new things here from Namaste.  They have a new Urban and Messenger Bag and new colors in the Buddy Cases. 

I have developed a Yahoo Group for the Birds of A Feather Mystery Sampler.  Here is link for any of you who would like to join us, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mystery_Sampler-Birds_Of_A_Feather/.   All the kits have been sent out.  I looked at the chart and it is very easy to read.  I am looking forward to starting mine.

For any of you that want to I will be starting another Yahoo Group for Emma & Eliza.  I will also be ordering the silk kits for that project.  So any of you that are interest in that please let me know.

3rd Day of Stitcher's Survival Camp

The last day of Stitcher's Survival Camp has arrived and we are all wishing we could stay longer.

Here are a few more things that we learned.

• Specialty fibers required, Collie hair
• All Stitcher's talk to herself
• Third times the charm
• Learn which end of the needle to thread
• Sandwich with cookie topping
• Some shopping therapy
• Closed Starbucks cups still spill
• "I think there is a hole in my mouth"
• Which light switches turn on which lights
• Need DVD instructions

We leave for home tomorrow morning so am posting this tonight.

Day 2 in Survival Camp

Ok here is what is going on:

• We have all learned the technique of reverse stitching
• Left turn red light don't apply, because of no traffic
• Some of us are not good grouters
• Common question "What did you do wrong now?"
• The dress looks lumpy, needs beads
• Ventriloquism was learned
• The only time you will be allowed to take naps during class
• Teacher's throwing things Mommy
• Can't we stay till we run out of food
• Coffee is a staple, 6 pots in one day
• We didn't survive the "Rapture" we are in heaven, don't expect us back anytime soon
• The hot tub was heavenly
• Found another beeping item, its the ceiling fan upstairs
• Dogs are crashed and burned
• Jerry's ribs sent us to the "Rapture", hereafter known as Rapture Ribs

Things I learned at Stitcher's Survival Camp

I know that I said that laptops were banned but the cabin came equipped with one.  So we decided to post some our suvivakl techniques. 

•  Make sure that we have the driving directions
•  Water is a necessity for the coffee maker
•  The fireplace and the coffee maker beep
•  We have enough food for an army (maybe we will get snowed in :) :) )
•  Levitation is a skill not yet mastered
•  Things go bump in the night (possibly your roommate)
•  Toaster has to be plugged in and the level has to be pushed down
•  Stay out of the dogs race track
•  Teach the dogs about sliding glass doors

And this was just day one, more tomorrow.

Stitcher's Survival Camp and New Newsletter
